Light Fields: Andrew Faulkner

January 24 - February 28, 2026
Overview

In his fifth solo exhibition at Pamela Walsh Gallery, Light Fields, Andrew Faulkner extends his long-standing exploration of color and light into a new, more expansive territory. These paintings move beyond the recognizable landscapes of Northern California toward something more elemental - an imagined geography where atmosphere, light, and memory converge.

Faulkner builds his compositions through luminous strata of color that both reveal and obscure the underlying landscape. The horizon softens; form gives way to radiance. In this interplay, pigment becomes atmosphere, and the familiar dissolves into fields of light.

Drawing on the legacy of color field painting yet firmly rooted in his own sense of place, Faulkner’s new work inhabits the space between abstraction and landscape. Light Fields offers a meditation on how light transforms perception - how the shimmer of color can evoke both a physical landscape and an inner state of being. These works invite viewers to dwell in that threshold, where the seen and the felt merge into one luminous experience.
